2016 Round 11 Netball vs IK

U/13

Final score: PI 8 def by Inverloch 19

Best: Sunday Brisbane and Gracie Dempsey

U/15

It was a tough game against a strong opposition. Inverloch have been unbeaten for the past three years and were too good on the day. To the Island girls credit, they outscored them in the final quarter but unfortunately it was not enough to take the win.

Final score: PI 14 def by Inverloch 35

Best: Ashlee Moxey and Charlie Ross

U/17

This was a game of the big gun shooters, Courtney Teakle (Invy) and Taylah Turner (PI). A well drilled team Inverloch started very strong with quick direct passing. Both teams showed their skills with many rebounds and strong mid court pressure resulting in scores being 26 a piece at half time. The third quarter was the Islands finest play for the season. Chloe and Hayley defending well, Jess and Ash were strong in the mid court and Kate and Taylah played their own brand of attacking netball and dominated with a good three quarter time lead. But not to be out done, Invy came out regrouped and played well to win a great game. Both teams will meet again in the finals for sure. Well done girls!

Final score: PI 38 def by Inverloch 52

Best: Nell Chaston and Chloe Moxey

C Grade

C grade started slow in cold conditions but were able to perk up midway through the first quarter. Pippa showed how determination pays off by playing her best game yet and was supported well by the little guns in Carly and Bec, who showed their flexibility in a number of positions. Big guns Hayley and Sarah battled hard all day in defence and the other guns Tori and Tahlia had their hands over everything. Jess showed good leadership both on and off the court and Jessi ran tirelessly all day. C grade should be pleased with their efforts this week and will be hungry for a re-match in a few weeks. Time for a few more wins on the board for the c grade girls.

B Grade

It was a wet and slippery court to be playing on, but the Island girls put up a fight against the competitive and smooth Inverloch Eagles 'Ka Hah'. The game stayed competitive however, Inverloch's movement down the court and in the ring was almost unstoppable. Island made some switches to mix things up by putting Bree into the centre for the last two quarters which allowed Island to slow down play. Overall it was a good game.

Final score: PI 31 def by Inverloch 60

Best: Chloe Kalis and Bree Rutherford

A Grade

The girls knew that this was going to be one tough battle right from the get-go and that it was. The Island welcomed an old face back to the club for the day in Cara Humbert who fitted beautifully into the team. The Invy girls came out strong showing the Island girls why they are one of the top teams in the league. The Island girls didn't allow Invy to rattle them and managed to compose themselves and maintain possession, demonstrating some fantastic passages of play throughout the game. They worked tirelessly all game, constantly backing each other up, chasing after every ball and supporting one another for the entire match. Unfortunately Invy were too good on the day however, the Island girls look forward to meeting them again in a few weeks time with a positive determination to change the result of the next match. Chin up girls, lets keep our heads held high and focus on the upcoming matches ahead.
