2016 Round 18 Netball vs Korumburra Bena

U/11

A tight start with great defence and intercepts from Tahlia Machetti and Ahlee Penry. In the second quarter the girls all played brilliantly, fast and flowing down the court. The u/11's have developed into a fantastic team and should be proud of themselves. What a great season, well done coaches!

U/13

The Island u/13's started off strong giving the Burra girls a fight. Going goal for goal, Sunday and Harry did an amazing job feeding into shooters Maisie, Makayla and Chanice who did awesome positioning and leading all game. Defenders Tayla, Gracie, Xyleigh and Bella did a great job keeping Burra attackers from shooting. Unfortunately we lost by only one goal but Island kept up the intensity throughout the whole game and never gave up.

U/17

The last game of the 2016 season was played in Cowes on a cloudy but wind free day. The Korumburra Giants are always a tough task and this was no exception, with the Bulldog girls giving everything. But a much taller and very skilled opposition they fell short in the end with a twelve goal loss. A big improvement on the last time they met. So now the finals to end a very successful season. Very well coached by Nicole and Jules, the girls have bonded into a tight unit ready for their finals assault. So to, Chloe, Haley, Nell, Jess, Kate, Chelsea, Laura, Taylah, Jules and Jazz, be strong, bring your game faces next week you never know what you can create! Thanks to all the supporters and the club the under 17 girls will represent you all well. Lets hope that in 2017 there will be some change rooms for all to enjoy!

B Grade

A lot of pressure around the girls today to sustain 5th place on the ladder. The first half was let down by shots falling short. Throughout the game their was defensive pressure up and down the court. Strong rebounds in the defensive ring were utilised as the Burra shooters were extremely accurate. Now we have to wait and see what position we finished on the ladder. Well done girls on a great season! Bring on the finals, get down and support our girls!

Wow what a game! The girls have certainly kept their best netball for last, playing the best they have all season and giving it a red hot crack against top of the table Korumburra. They started slow in the first quarter, allowing Burra to gain a five goal lead half way through the first quarter however, with great team spirit and strong fighting the girls displayed a huge turn around and were able to fight back to remain only two down at the first break. The second quarter saw the girls really believe in themselves and show their supporters that they are a top four team for a reason, only going  down to Burra by one goal in that quarter. The girls were pumped at half time and determined to continue playing the way they were, constantly backing each other up and supporting one another the whole way down the court.  Supporters were treated to a real hard-fought third quarter that saw the girls break even with the Burra girls half way through the quarter. Unfortunately the girls couldn't  quite hold on and Burra began to show why they are the best.  By far the best game the A grade girls have played as a team and they should be incredibly proud of the efforts they all displayed in what was a fantastic  team game.  The girls are feeling pumped, positive and confident in the way they are playing leading into their finals campaign. They are leading the way for the club and they encourage all supporters to head to Dalyston to watch the girls play in what will be a fantastic match against Toora. Well done today girls, everyone should be so proud!
