2016 Round 3 Netball vs MDU
The under 13's took the court against a strong M.D.U. Although it took a little while to warm up, by the third quarter the Island extended their lead despite many positional changes. In the end, against a strong competition, the team stood up and showed off their skills with strong reads and excellent team work brining the ball down the court. Well done on a well deserved win. Thankyou to Amelie for filling in.

It was wonderful to play in the sun on a dry court. Fantastic conditions for netball. The Island girls came out ready to play, but from the first whistle it was obvious they were facing a strong opponent. Cailen worked tirelessly on her tall shooter causing many turnovers and encouraging the team all day. Shelby played a consistent game in the mid court, feeding to the shooters and bringing the ball down the court. Welcome back to Lily Robinson who slotted back really well, moving and shooting accurately. Even though we lost, all 8 players worked hard to the final whistle and did what was asked of them. Couldn't have asked for more.

The under 17's met an undefeated MDU this Saturday. We got off to a brilliant start, ending the first quarter 8 goals to 3. MDU fought back closing the margin with the half time score being 12 to 9. Both sides put up a steady fight, with some great passages of play and a steady head, the girls pulled away with a great win!

The girls took on a very fit and strong MDU side this week and after a significant first quarter loss, weren't able to get back into the game. Versatility at both ends from Hayley Moxey, strong play through the centre by Jessi Hunter and Sarah Tyrrell leading the defence, showed that the girls were not going down easily. The first loss for the season will see the Island girls need to regroup for next week.

The game started with both teams going goal for goal. Then it all clicked for Phillip Island. The Island goal was like a ball magnet, and the team went to the first break with a commanding 12 goal lead. The next two quarters saw the game fall into a rhythm with both teams moving the ball well. The PI defenders worked hard to restrict the scoring while the mid-courters were rapidly linking together. Chloe Mel Kalis were goaling accurately to maintain the comfortable lead. Then in the last quarter it was as if the team had decided on an early finish! The lead was whittled down to a solitary goal but with great determination and composure the Island team were able to rally to win by 8 goals.

The Island turned on the weather for a tough match against MDU on Saturday. The girls knew this match was not going to be easy and would be a good test to see where the team was at for the season. A great first quarter by the team set them up for the match, maintaining their lead throughout. Tessa and Lawri were superb in defence, winning some great battles against their opponents. Emily was there for back up and applied the pressure consistently. Amber and Jess created solid drives in the mid court, and fed well to the goalies. Taylah was on fire with her goals and kept a level head when the game was close. Well done on a great game girls and what a way to start the season, 3-0!
