2016 Round 8 Netball vs Toora

U/13

A fantastic start to the game smashing out 19 goals in the first half. The team kept up the intensity throughout the second half finishing with 17 goals in the last quarter. Everyone did exactly what was asked of them coming away with smiles on their faces and a 39 goal win. 44 goals is awesome and should be proud of their efforts not only today but throughout the season.

Final score: PI 44 def Toora 5

Best: Makayla Morris, Bella Ross and Tayla Kleeven

U/15

The first quarter was an even contest with an eight all result. Island stepped up the pressure in the second quarter and took the lead. They held Toora goal-less in the third quarter and with an awesome team effort across the court, the girls finished with a great win.

Best: Faith Hollyoak, Ashley Moxey and Lily Robinson

U/17

With a full team to select from (except for Taylah in A's) and with Chloe and Jess back from injury, the girls had no excuses. The strong north/west wind made it hard for shooters on both teams to score with a low half time score board. Plenty of position changes which is good for team balance and options, all girls stepped up to be 18/8 at three quarter time. Toora never gave in, pushing and hassling hard to the end of another strong game, but the Island finished stronger 26/11 in a well coached game.

Final score: PI 26 def Toora 11

Best: Nell Chaston and Jess Drazi

B Grade

In blustery conditions the Island began slowly. Narelle and Kylie worked hard in defence turning over many balls. Chloe had her game face on and used her superior speed to drive hard to the circle. Katelyn came on in the second quarter and provided a great option in attack. This week saw the return of the old gun Breeza from injury, and she quickly made herself heard on the court. A tight game saw Toora come away with the win.

Best: Narelle Lindner

A Grade

Crunch game for the A grade girls Saturday. Sun was out, as was the wind. The girls were hot off the mark and had a cracking first quarter. Big guns Tess and Lawri worked tirelessly in defence, applying the pressure to every shot and pass. Amber held tight on her opponent in WD and created many turnovers. Once again Kate 'hardarse' Steel and Jess 'Diesel' Gysberts both inspired the team with their attack on the ball, feeding into the ring and defensive pressure in the midcourt. Taylah worked her butt off out in GA, and moved well in the circle to open up scoring opportunities. The girls were able to maintain their lead and composure throughout the entire match to come away with a fantastic win which will be one that will decide on how the finals ladder will stand. Well deserved week off coming in to Interleague. Well done girls!!
