2016 Round 15 Seniors vs Fish Creek

The Island went down on Saturday to a well oiled outfit in Fish Creek at the CCG by 85 points

Well where do I start, Fishy, who have to be close to premiership favourites with sportsbet, were dominant from the start to finish. The Island could only manage 1 goal for the quarter through young gun Aaron Edwards but Fishy showed their class with 4 goals of their own to go into the first break up by 22 points.

Q1 Phillip Island 1.0.6 to Fish Creek 5.3.33

The pain got worse for the Island as Fishy stepped up a gear in the second quarter adding 7 goals to the Islands 3 as the Island were getting out classed at all points of the ground. Fishy went into the long break with a huge 48 point lead

Q2 Phillip Island 4.2.26 to Fish Creek 11.8.74

The Island tightened up their defence in the third term but unfortunately that restricted their own scoring to just 2 points for the quarter to Fish Creeks 3 goals 3.   Read more »

2016 Round 14 Netball vs Stony Creek

Under 11’s

A frosty start to the morning with a close first quarter. Some great team passing and precise goal shooting. Second quarter the girls all made great space. There were some great intercepts by Lexi Walton, Ashlee Penry and Sienna. The third quarter saw great team work in the circle by Amelia Crooks and Shanae Riley. Great solid play and talking by the whole team throughout the whole game.

Under 13’s

A slow start to a cold winter’s morning. The team slowly warmed up and came out strong and hard in the second quarter. Gracie, Tayla and Xyleigh did extremely well in defence, taking it up to attackers. Jarrah, Harry and Sunday did fantastic through the midcourt, feeding to the shooters. Their defence work was also amazing. Makayla, Chanice and Bella did an exceptional job shooting with some feisty moves and incredible shots. Good work team.

2016 Round 14 Seniors vs Stony Creek

Phillip Island went down to Stony Creek in very windy conditions over at the racecourse by 34 points

The first quarter wasn’t much to write home about, with both side not being very accurate in front of goal. Hayden Moore kicked the Islands first goal for the day, apart from that the rest of the quarter was very scrappy

Q1 Phillip Island 1.4.10 to Stony Creek 1.4.10

Another lack lustre quarter unfolded in the second, with Stony Creek looking the better team but not being able to get the job done on the scoreboard. They could only manage 2 goals 5 to the Islands 1 goal 3, with Beau Runnalls being the only goal scorer for the Island.

2016 Round 13 Netball vs Tarwin

What a great game, very close all the way to the end. Phillip Island played some great passages of play with Shanae Riley a stand out. There was fantastic passing from Zoe O'Garey, Cienna Tobias and Lexi Walton through the mid court. Ahlee Penry had some great intercepts in the second half and Amelia Crooks and Shanae Riley worked well around the ring.  Ashlee Haringsma, Khiah Egan-Lee had great passes through the centre and Tahlia Mochetti showed great defence in the ring. It was a great game to watch, well done girls!

2016 Round 12 Seniors vs Kilcunda Bass

Phillip Islands finals chances are just about finished after their 9 point loss to local rivals Kilcunda Bass at the Cowes oval.

Kilcunda Bass dominated the first quarter, they took full advantage of the Islands skill errors and made them pay on the scoreboard adding 3 goals before Jack Taylor could get the Islands fort for the day. Kilcunda Bass kicked a late goal to go into the first break up by 17 points.

Q1 Phillip Island 1.3.9 Kilcunda Bass 4.2.26

The Island found their way back into the game with a goal to James Darcy but they couldn’t keep their accuracy going as they could only manage 4 more behinds for the quarter but luckily for the Island Kilcunda Bass could only add 2 majors to increase their lead to 21 points at the half time break

2016 Round 11 Netball vs IK

Final score: PI 8 def by Inverloch 19

Best: Sunday Brisbane and Gracie Dempsey

It was a tough game against a strong opposition. Inverloch have been unbeaten for the past three years and were too good on the day. To the Island girls credit, they outscored them in the final quarter but unfortunately it was not enough to take the win.

Final score: PI 14 def by Inverloch 35

Best: Ashlee Moxey and Charlie Ross

It was wet, cold and slippery at the Cowes oval early Saturday morning when the Bulldog pups took on the inform Inverloch-Kongwak Sea Eagles. The ground has taken a beating over the last week with heavy rain and hundreds of Auskick kids running around on Friday night. The pups have not played a lot of wet weather football recently and the conditions including the rain, which was coming in sideways and the soft and muddy ground only added to the challenge.
